What to expect from our CE trainings for therapists
Great clinical training should change what you do in your very next session, not just add pages to your notes. That is the idea behind how we teach.
We're a CAMFT-approved CE provider
Creative Connections is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) through its Continuing Education Provider Approval program, known as CEPA, to provide continuing education. Our CAMFT CEPA provider number is #1032896. Our trainings are taught by our own practicing therapists, people who are in session with clients every week.
We don't want it to be another boring CE
We've all sat through a CE where we felt excited during the training, and then nothing happened after. It stayed in the slides and the handout, and by the next week it was gone.
That's not what we want. We want our CEs to help you build your clinical thinking and strengthen it, so you can take it into your next session and actually use it.
Repetition is built in
We really try to keep something repetitive in how we teach, because that's how skills stick. Ideas come back more than once, and you get to practice them, not just hear about them. Seeing something once is information. Seeing it again, trying it out and talking it through is how it becomes part of how you work.
How to choose CE that actually sticks
Most clinicians have sat through a training that felt great on the day and disappeared by Friday. Before you spend your time or money on any CE, a few questions help you tell the difference between content you will use and content you will forget.
Ask whether there is a way to apply the material with a real case within a week or two. Ask whether the presenter is a working clinician who still sees clients. Ask whether there is room for questions, practice or discussion, or whether it is a straight lecture. And ask what you will be able to do differently on Monday morning that you could not do before.
What a Learning Loop™ session can feel like
The idea behind the Learning Loop™ is simple: learn something, try it, talk about how it went, and come back to it. Instead of one long day that fades, the learning repeats in small doses so it has time to settle into how you actually work with clients.
That usually means a short teaching piece, space to connect it to your own caseload, and a chance to hear how colleagues are using the same idea. You leave with something concrete rather than a folder of slides.
A 10-minute plan to turn any training into practice
Whether you attend ours or someone else's, this works. Right after a training, spend ten minutes writing down the one idea you want to try, the one client or situation where it might fit, and the day you will try it. Put a reminder on your calendar for one week out to ask yourself how it went. If it did not work, adjust it and try once more before dropping it.
The goal is not to use everything you learn. It is to use one thing well, and then add the next.
Questions therapists ask about our trainings
Who are the trainings for? They are built for licensed clinicians, associates and trainees who want practical skills they can use with real clients.
Do I need to be part of the practice to attend? Reach out and ask. Send us a text at 661-383-2252 and we will tell you what is open and what is coming up.
Can I use this to support my own growth plan? Absolutely. Many clinicians choose training based on the type of clients they want to work with more, and we are glad to talk through what fits.
Our Learning Loop™
Every training moves through five steps:
Connect: get grounded and connect the topic to your own work
Experience: try the idea yourself, not just hear about it
Adapt: shape it to fit your clients and your style
Apply: practice using it in real scenarios
Transfer: plan how it shows up in your next session
Our first training
Our first training, When Words Aren't Enough, was a six-hour in-person day for mental health practitioners on September 18, 2026. It was taught by Alexandra Field, LMFT, Madison Bottorff, LCSW, and Lexie Flores, LMFT, ATR.
Online trainings are coming soon. To hear first, or to ask a question, email ce@cctherapy.co. Our trainings are educational and do not create a consulting or clinical relationship, and each therapist stays responsible for their own cases.
