Starting out and feeling stuck: therapy for young adults in Santa Clarita

Your late teens and early twenties come with big decisions and not much of a map: school, work, moving out, relationships, money, and figuring out what you want. It's normal to feel stuck, behind or unsure.

Therapy that fits around your schedule. We've got you.

If your life is already full, therapy shouldn't be one more thing you have to rearrange everything for. We get it, and we've built our practice around that.

Maybe you're:

  • Working part time, or juggling more than one job

  • Just starting out in your career

  • In the middle of an internship

  • Still taking courses, with a class schedule that changes every semester

We can fit around your class schedule and your work hours. We have enough therapists to offer real flexibility, so you're not stuck waiting for the one time slot that doesn't work for you. Daytime, in person in Newhall, or by video from wherever you are, we'll find something that works.

What therapy can be for

Therapy can be a place to sort it out with someone who isn't part of the situation. You don't need a crisis to go. Many young adults start because they want to understand themselves better, handle stress or get through a transition.

You can start on your own. You don't need a parent to sign you up.

Signs it may be time to talk to someone

You do not need a crisis to start therapy. Young adults often reach out because something has been quietly building: constant worry, trouble sleeping, feeling stuck after a big change, pressure from school or work, relationship stress, or a sense of being overwhelmed without knowing why. If it has been affecting your days for a couple of weeks or longer, that is reason enough.

What a first session is like

The first session is mostly a conversation. Your therapist will ask what brings you in, what you hope will change, and a little about your life. You do not have to prepare a speech or share anything you are not ready to. It is normal to feel awkward at first, and you can tell your therapist that. If you are not sure what to say, "I'm not sure where to start" is a perfectly good opening.

How to start this week

Starting can be the hardest part, so here is a simple path. Write down two or three things you would like help with. Decide whether in-person in Newhall or video fits your schedule better. Then send a text to 661-383-2252 and tell us a little about what you are looking for. Our client care team will reach out directly. If you would like to chat first, we offer a free 15 minute consult.

A few ways to make therapy work for you

Pick a regular time that fits your week, so it does not get bumped. Be honest about what is and is not helping. Jot down a thought or two between sessions to bring in. And remember that you are in charge of the pace.

Questions young adults ask

Do my parents need to know? You can start on your own. Talk with your therapist about privacy and what that means for you.

What if I do not know what to talk about? That is okay. Your therapist will guide the conversation and you can go at your own speed.

What does it cost? Clients 25 and under may qualify for no-cost therapy even with insurance. We also accept several insurance plans, and our client care coordinator checks coverage before your first session.

Can I do it online? Yes, we offer sessions by video as well as in person in Newhall.

If you ever feel you may be in danger, call or text 988 or call 911.

Cost

Young adults 25 and under may qualify for therapy at no cost to them, and we also work with several insurance plans. We'll walk you through it so there are no surprises.
